I always ask people “what’s new?”. It’s my failed attempt to get conversation going. I guess it is rooted in the fact that I really don’t like “How are you?”. I feel like it is such an automatic response, for me at least, and it’s usually follows “Hi…” But the problem with “What’s new?” is that people usually don’t have a lot going on or they do have a lot going on, but it’s all day-to-day life stuff. Nothing exciting, nothing you can pinpoint that exact second to respond to the question. At least this is my experience. I don’t like small talk.
Anyways, here’s my response to “What’s new?”
This is the bunk that John made for the boys room this week – it is going to have a profile of a Mach 5 over it so I’ll post the finished picture, well when it is finished. And, as you can see, it still needs a mattress and ladder. Right now the boys love sliding down the pole, we’ll see if there will be any fighting for who gets to sleep on top.
So this is our “wonder bowl”, “rock plate”, or “nature bowl”. I stole the idea from Greta. She has one that holds a collection of rocks that the girls collect and bring home. Our plate consists of whatever cool stuff we find in the backyard and it always turns out to be a great collection. This one in particular represented the first signs of Fall in our backyard. It was a little bittersweet actually. Summer went by too fast.
The plates on the wall was a project JJ and I did together this week. I stole the idea (do you see a theme) from DesignMom. The only thing I would change in her instructions would be to try something else for for the sticky templates. Although, I don’t know what b/c I am not that crafty. The computer labels that she suggested were too had to get off. Ideas?
