The only reason I would want to be Oprah is to have the ability to shower my friends or random strangers with fabulous things that I love. The things would probably not be as extravagant as Oprah’s and actually once I began compiling my list, a lot of them ended up not being things at all. I realized more than half of my list was experiences. Interesting, and some experiences you can’t really give, so I guess I would need some of Oprah’s people to figure out the details. So here you are, family, friends and random people consider yourself gifted with my favorite things and I hope you get as much joy from them as I do. (please let me know if any of these items magically appear under your chair)
1- A Facial at Ginger Bay Day Spa in Kirkwood, MO. I did this last year because I had a gift certificate and thought I’d try something new (not a massage). It was as relaxing or more than a massage. it doesn’t look like they have the exact same one I had, it was an aromatherapy one and the lady who gave it to me was Brenda and she was terrific.
2- A Roomba. We have hardwood, so I can’t vouch for carpet. But if I run this robot vacuum every day, I don’t have to worry about sweeping. Now the trick for us is running it everyday, but if you have less than 3 kids, 2 dogs and 1 cat, you probably don’t have to do it as much.
3- Coach Perfume. I am not a a Coach kinda girl for anyone who knows me. I like them for others, just not for me. So needless to say, I don’t have a Coach bag – but love their perfume. I have the spray, lotion and perfume solid…thanks babe.
4-The Shack. This is the best book I have read this year as far as something that has challenged my thinking about God and my relationship with Him. I can’t tell you a lot about it, except it is fiction and don’t read it before you go to bed. Call me if you read it.
5- A massage from my friend Maddie. She’s a massage therapist and she is terrific. I have a tricky back and she has helped me a ton! There is no “fluff” about her massage techniques – she gets to the problem part and works it out.
6- A weekend at Hermann Hill Cottages. We just got back. Still waterlogged from the steam shower, jacuzzi and hot tub. The amenities are stellar, the view amazing and the quiet is perfect.
7- Dinner at Bentley’s in The Lake of the Ozarks. Get the Crab Legs or the Prime Rib. At least that’s what we do, I get the crab legs…they cut the shells open for you, so there’s less work. That a bottle of wine, a little salad, little appetizer (you have to save room) – perfect. The food is only half the reason we love to go there though – the serve is unbelievable – I love coming away from dinner feeling well loved and cared for and that’s totally how I feel after leaving Bentley’s.

I’ll add to this later — I’m tired, sleep is also a favorite thing of 2008
